Seen in a small alleyway in La Rochelle, this stencil had no real business being there. A white tiger walking across a deep blue rectangle, pasted onto an old stone wall not far from the Atlantic coast.
Out of the blue. Quite literally.
The image is simple, which is exactly why it works. Two colours, sharp stripes, a strong silhouette, and enough wall damage to keep things interesting. Torn paper lifts at the edges. The blue is scratched and faded in places. The stone underneath refuses to stay in the background.
There is something nicely absurd about it. A tiger in a French harbour town. Not roaring, not posing, just walking through the alley as if this was a perfectly normal route to take before reaching the sea.
The deep blue gives the image its punch. Part poster, part stencil, part accidental seaside sign. Against the rough beige wall, the tiger becomes even more graphic — clean, strange, and slightly too confident for such a small street.
