Syramik

At first glance, you might think you are looking at a collection of colourful paintings.

Look a little closer and you realise they are painted on old crockery.

Flowers, leaves and a horse rider cover the ceramic surfaces in an explosion of colour. Every little detail has been carefully painted by Syrian artists, turning something as ordinary as a plate or dish into a small canvas. The floral elements twist and spread across the surface, while the horse rider brings a sense of movement into the composition.

What caught our eye was the contrast between the delicate precision of the painting and the everyday nature of the objects underneath. These were pieces of crockery, yet they had become something far more decorative and expressive.

We love discoveries like this, where the beauty comes from looking at an ordinary object differently. The closer you get, the more details appear, from individual flowers and leaves to the fine lines of the horse and rider.

When translated into textiles, we kept that same abundance of colour and detail. The flowers and figures spread across the fabric, while the movement of the textile gives the painted fragments a new sense of life. What once belonged on old crockery now moves with you.
