Look up.

On the ceiling of Senso-ji Temple in Asakusa, Tokyo, a vivid painting on washi paper brings a burst of rich reds and fiery oranges into the space. The intense colours immediately draw the eye, creating a striking contrast with the traditional surroundings of the temple.

There is something wonderful about finding such strong colour above your head. You could easily walk through the temple without noticing what is happening overhead, until you stop and look up.

When translated into textiles, we kept that same intensity. The reds and oranges come together across the fabric, while the movement of the material gives the composition a new life of its own.
