Discovered at the entrance of a small compound in Hong Kong, this sign somehow brings together Americana, neighbourhood nostalgia, roadside improvisation, soft neon, exposed wiring, and local handmade charm, all inside one glowing circle.

A simplified pickup truck floats across a frosted surface, surrounded by icy blues, faded reds, soft pink neon, and weathered wood already marked by humidity and time. Beside it, an old Texaco sign quietly joins the conversation. Completely out of place. Completely at home.

The pickup itself feels almost toy-like. Reduced to its simplest lines and colours, somewhere between roadside advertising, children’s illustration, and local shop signage. Nothing polished. Nothing corporate. Which is exactly why it works.

American roadside mythology filtered through East Asian neighbourhood aesthetics. Warm tropical air meeting strangely winter-like graphics. Exposed cables beside glowing pastel light. Charm built entirely from improvisation.

The surrounding alleyways carry the same atmosphere. Hidden garages, tiny workshops, narrow passages, handmade signs, and visual worlds quietly existing behind larger streets and towers. Not a destination. More a discovered corner accidentally preserved.
