Six square metres of flowers, almost sent to the dump.

Luckily, someone looked twice.

Found in Berlin, Lost Flowers was once a huge oil painting on canvas, nearly six square metres in size. Apparently, it was simply too inconvenient to keep. Too big, too heavy, too much trouble. So it was on its way out.

Luckily, someone got curious.

And beneath all that size was something worth stopping for. An explosion of flowers, colour, texture and painterly chaos, with deep blue, yellow, red, green and orange all fighting for attention and somehow getting along perfectly.

Nothing about it is neat. The brushstrokes are rough, the flowers appear and disappear, and the whole painting feels as though it has already lived several lives before we found it. Which, of course, is exactly why we loved it.

When translated into textiles, we kept that same energy. The dark base makes the colours glow, while the folds reveal another flower, another brushstroke, another little piece of the original painting.

A work almost lost because it was too big, too old and too difficult.
