Komadori

A few orchids, some broad blue leaves and a bird that clearly knows how to make an entrance.

Painted by Ichiro Kikuta, this folding screen brings together delicate flowers in white and soft red, rising between broad blue leaves. Against the muted golden background, the shapes create an almost rhythmic movement across the panels.

Then there is the little bird, with its vibrant chestnut back and black throat. It adds just enough contrast to break the calm, without disturbing the quiet balance of the composition.

When translated into textiles, we kept that same sense of rhythm. The orchids and blue leaves flow across the fabric, while the small bird adds a surprising point of colour as the design moves and folds.

A little piece of Kikuta’s quiet world, now made to move.
