A wall in Antwerp’s diamond district, clearly not interested in keeping things discreet.

The painted figure is dressed in soft pinks, yellow, navy and black, but it is the dozens of tassels hanging across the surface that really steal the show. Threads, knots, fringes and cords fall from the wall in beige, coral, dusty pink, gold, red and olive, turning a painted image into something part portrait, part textile installation.

The setting makes it even better. Antwerp’s diamond district usually speaks in polish, precision and value. This wall takes a different approach. Handmade, slightly chaotic and a little unexpected, it feels more like a piece of backroom treasure than something made for a display window.

And then there is the movement. The tassels bring something physical to a surface that would otherwise remain completely still. Shadows, threads and fringes change the image as you move past it, making the painted figure feel almost alive.

When translated into textiles, we kept that same layered quality. Painted colour, shadows and thread-like details come together across the fabric, creating a print that feels rich, tactile and slightly funky.

A wall in the diamond district, casually proving sparkle is not the only way to attract attention.
