A little bit of theatre, painted onto the street.
Created by Valery Levental, a famous Russian set designer, this painting was made as a storyboard for a show set. It captures an evening outside the “Eldorado” bar, with glowing yellow lights spilling onto the street and figures gathering beneath the vintage signage.
The deep blue background makes the warm lamplight glow even more, while the horse silhouette on top of the building adds another wonderfully theatrical detail. It feels cinematic and nostalgic, somewhere between an everyday evening and a scene waiting for the curtain to rise.
When translated into textiles, we kept that same cinematic atmosphere. The deep blues, warm lights and earthy oranges come together across the fabric, while the figures and architectural details give the composition its sense of story.
A little Eldorado evening, ready for its next scene.
