The daisies on this skirt look like they belong in Alice in Wonderland.
But before they found their way onto fabric, they were meticulously painted across the cover of an old candy box.
There is something slightly unexpected about finding such delicate flowers on something made to hold sweets. The daisies spread across the surface in careful detail, turning a simple box into something decorative enough to keep long after the last candy was gone.
That is what caught our eye. The flowers feel familiar, yet the way they are arranged gives them a slightly dreamlike quality. You could almost picture Alice stumbling across the box somewhere along the way, picking it up and wondering what was inside.
We kept that feeling when translating the image into textiles. The daisies leave their little candy box and spread across the skirt, where they move and shift with every step. An old box, a field of flowers and a little bit of Wonderland, now in a rather different place.
