Found in an alleyway in Antwerp, this wall suddenly decided to become an aquarium. Blue water, green fish, pale silver shapes, rough concrete, black cracks, faded scratches, and a bit of pink graffiti drifting in from below because apparently the ocean needed a street accent.
The fish look cheerful enough, but not too polished. Some are bright and graphic, others already half dissolved into the wall. Paint fades, textures break through, outlines wobble a little. Exactly the kind of underwater scene you might not expect on your way to work.
The blue gives the whole image its freshness. Not tropical-postcard blue, more Antwerp-wall-trying-its-best blue. Which is much better. The rough surface keeps everything grounded, while the fish bring in that small, absurd moment of escape.
A few steps through the city, and suddenly the Pacific. Or at least the Antwerp version of it.
On textile, the faded blues and hand-painted fish create a light, playful surface. The wall texture adds depth, while the colours keep it fresh and easy.
A little underwater holiday, discovered between buildings. No snorkel required.
